New places old Friends..

I'd been sitting in my spacious corner office, reading over the latest stocks. I sighed as I put the paper down and looked around my stunning office. I was bored out of my mind. I spun in my chair and looked out at the city below me. Now dot get me wrong I love Manhattan, but something was missing in my life lately. Sure I owned at least three advertisement firms, and had everything in life a girl could want. I turned back around in my chair, when my eyes fell on the only photo that graced my desk. It was a photo of myself and my only real best friend, Lilah Morgan. As I looked at the photo of the two of us that was taken the day we graduated college, I decided it was high time I paid my best gal pal a visit.

I quickly brought up Google on my computer and searched for plane tickets for fast flights to Los Angeles. Once I'd booked my flight I gathered up what was left of my paperwork, and headed out of my office. As I passed my assistant’s desk I spoke over my shoulder. "I'm going out of town for a few days hold my calls and reassign my projects." With that I left the building. I rushed home and packed everything I could possibly want to bring with me. Once I finished packing I left my apartment and took a cab to the airport.

Several hours and one boring in flight movie later I was in Los Angeles, "The City of Angels." I grabbed my luggage, looked up Lilah in the directory. I then hailed a cab and gave them her address. Luckily for me she was still going by Morgan after all these years. I hadn't talked to her since we graduated, but I'd followed her well dissevered law career. She had hit it big, just like she had always said she would. Not that I ever doubted her for a second. I knew from the moment she said she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and become a lawyer, that she'd make it, after all like me Lilah was a born survivor. I smiled to myself as the cab pulled up in front of a stylish looking suburban house. I just hope that she's home, we have so much to catch up on.

A man my age should be contemplating retirement, dealing with his daughter's wanna be boyfriends, and enjoying the dwindling romance with his wife before age rendered his member helpless. But if I was meant to live that life I wouldn't have been a watcher, met Lilah, and ran my own demon demolishing agency.

It had been a very eventful day at my little company. Lucky for me I wasn't dealing with field operations as much but I was in the process of expansion. My closest workers and I had moved into a new building. Lilah had requested I do so considering the old one was rotting around me. She helped me find a beach front mini mansion. Claiming the space was for training and even living quarters she damn near bought the property for me. Having a lawyer as a wife was a plus when it came to getting the papers signed as quick as possible. I was also in the process of bringing in new blood. Most of my roster contained rogue demon hunters but apparently rogue watchers were in style. Out of nowhere I had three men in their mid twenties begging for a crack at the less uniform ways of my operation. I was very suspicious so I had one of my guys do some background work before I even considered. So far things had come up clean but I was still a skeptic. I had the perfect case for the three to handle once the move into the new headquarters was complete.

The main person on my mind was Damien Wolfe. He had squeezed his way into Lilah's good graces and no matter what I said or did she refused to believe he was anything more than a bad ass lawyer. I had no concrete proof and Lilah ignored my gut instinct.

Sam had recently just began at the Italian Academy for Girls in Milan. The ninth grade seemed to change my little girl into a budding young lady. Boys were on the tip of her tongue rather than her powers. With alot of patience and practice our family got through her 13th birthday present from the powers; her ability boost. Without her knowing I too had taken a few meditations and things to make sure I was more powerful. I mean come on, I can't allow pre-teenage angst to have me pinned to ceilings...again.

Rubbing my eyes I sat back in my driver's seat. I was exhausted and still have twenty minutes before I was home. With a snap my car and I were sitting in my garage. I figured that teleporting would be safer for the general population rather than driving half sleep. I got out the car and heading into my home. Before I could make it to my fluffy recliner the doorbell rang.

"I never get a break.", I sighed as I made my way to it. I opened the door to see a very stylish woman standing before me. She was very Lilah-esque and made me wonder where my wife was."Can I help you?"

Lilly eyed the very handsome rugged looking British man in front of her, then smiled her best smile. "Yes I hope you can; I'm looking for Lilah, this is the current address I have." She smiled again,as he looked surprised and a bit suspicous. "I'm an old college friend I just decided to drop by on a whim, I do that alot actually. Sop is she here?"
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:13 pm (UTC)
I was a bit taken back by her smile....taking a good look at her she was a mirrored image of Lilah when he first met her.
"This might sound horrible but I have no idea.", I replied."I just got home."
I could sense that Sam was home but she stopped running to me screaming daddy when I first got home years before."You can come in and wait while I call her."
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:21 pm (UTC)
Lilly just laughed. "Horrible yes,but not unheard of,and sure I'd love to wait." She then noticed the ring on his left hand. "I feel kind of stupid for asking, but are you her husband? Because last I checked Lil didn't do marriage ever.." She followed him inside.

She looked around the house with a smile; noting how very Lilah the place was, she noted it had a lot of the man before her in it too. Sam was up in her room, music nearly blaring.
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:25 pm (UTC)
Just as the woman sat down Sam's music began to blare."Yes, I'm her husband and believe me Lilah wasn't doing marriage.", I smirked."But apparently my persuasion worked."
With a thought I made the volume of Sam's music lower.
"Kids these days...have no respect for their hearing.", I chuckled."By the way what is your name? We didn't introduce ourselves properly."
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:31 pm (UTC)
"I guess so.." She smiled. She really liked this guy she decided, he seemed perfect for her best friend. When he mentioned kids she blinked. "You.. you have children?" Lilly wasn't a big fan of children no matter the age,she found them annoying. When he asked her name she blushed. "Oh sorry how rude of me,I'm Lilly,Lilly Drake. I'm Lilah's old college roomate and besyfriend."
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:34 pm (UTC)
"Nice to meet you Lilly, Lilah's old college roommate and best friend. I'm Wesley Wyndam Pryce, Lilah's current husband and father of her only child.", I replied."Our daughter is 14 going on 15 soon...she's a handful, must get that from her mother.", I grinned."Would you like something to drink?"
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:38 pm (UTC)
Yup she really liked this guy, he was amusing and hot. "Nice to meet you Wesley, and wow guess I've missed out on a lot. I never thought she'd get married or ever have kids, she used to detest them." When he said that their daughter was like Lilah Lilly smirked. "Well of course I'd expect nothing less. I'll have a Gin martini if you've giot the stuff for it."
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:42 pm (UTC)
"Do we got the stuff....", I walked over to our full size bar. I opened it so she could see the supply of alcohol."I doubt there's anything here we can't make.", I glanced at my watch as the heard the garage door open."I'm sure that's her."
I began to make her drink. As I handed it to her the scent of my gorgeous wife's perfume filled my nose.
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:48 pm (UTC)
Lilly smiled at the huge supply of booze. "Wouldn't be my best girlfriend in the world, if she didn't have a fully stocked bar." When they heard the garage door she was silent for a second and looked remarkably like a vamp searching the air. "Yup Chanel number five it's her." She smiled and took the drink, just as the door opened. "Thanks."
Oct. 27th, 2007 10:53 pm (UTC)
Just as I thought it Lilly had spoken it. For a moment I was worried that in fact I had allowed a vampire into our home but I ignored the idea. I would have been able to tell at the door. Sensing vampires was like second nature.
"You're welcome.", I replied as Lilah rounded the corner. Her beeming eyes landed on Lilly and then came the girlish scream from the two of them. Whinced as the loud noise brought Sam out of her room. She came running down the stairs wearing her typical rebellious teen outfit; black jeans, band t-shirt, and black converse. Eyeing Lilly she made her way to me.
"It takes screams for you to say hello to your ole man I see.", I stated before ruffling her hair.

I'd had a partularly long and annoying day at the office, and wanted nothing better than a bubble bath. Twenty minutes of traffic later I was walking into my living room. I stopped short though, when I saw who was in the room with Wes. Lilly just smiled,I smiled back, then two seconds later it was like no time had ever passed and we were teens again. The whole scream and hug sequence came two seconds later, causinh Wes to wince and Sam to come out of her room. I hugged Lilly.

"How long have you been here? And why didn't you call?" I asked in a rush. God I'd missed her. Sam looked at her mother and the other woman, then at her father. "Not always you know I love you." She smiled at him, than asked. "Who's the cooperate chick, that has mom actimng my age?"
Oct. 27th, 2007 11:06 pm (UTC)
"Apparently she's your mother's best friend from college.", I answered."I guess it's been a while since they've seen each other." Eyeing the two I noticed they had forgotten about us."Let's go upstairs before I get roped into cooking dinner.", I whispered.
Oct. 27th, 2007 11:16 pm (UTC)
Lilly smiled and hugged Lilah. "I've been here for about thirty minutes or so,and you know I'd rather surprise you than call. Calling's for boring people. So we have so much to catch up on, like you not telling me you married a really hot British guy,and while we're on the subject of men you didn't tell me about, I am your best friend I am the first in the list of people to call when you're getting married.Or that you had a kid, who's a mini you."
Oct. 27th, 2007 11:19 pm (UTC)
"Ok so yes I should've called, but it all happened so fast, and he is really great, and competely all mine. As for Sam,you really think she's a mini me?" Lilly nodded.

Sam looked at them then at her father. "Good plan they're starting to freak me out." She followed him upstairs, leaving Lilah and Lilly to talk.
Oct. 27th, 2007 11:28 pm (UTC)
"Of she's a mini you, your genes wouldn't have it any other way.", she eyed Wesley as he left."Now where in the world did you find that fine man?"
Lilah had always been the type to get the most intelligent, handsome man but Wes seemed to take the cake with the accent as well."You picked him up in a library I assume."
Despite the gruffy appearance Lilly could see the English sophistication in his speach and manner.
Oct. 27th, 2007 11:36 pm (UTC)
I smiled when Lilly said that Sam was a mini version of me. When she launched into questions about Wes I just smirked. "Oddly enough I didn't find him a library, but a bar in LA. Long story short I tried to kill his boss a few times, then he betrayed said boos, got his throat slit, nearly died. His friends and said boss left him out in the cold and I found him drowning his sorrows in a bar." I went over to the bar and made myself a glass of scotch.

"Actually it started out as a work related thing and well one thing led to another..it was..still is a little complicated."
Oct. 29th, 2007 05:19 am (UTC)
"A bar?? You met him in a bar?", Lilly couldn't believe her ears. Lilah never was the type to pick up men in bars, much less marry and mother a child."How romantic.", she chuckled before continuing.
Wesley's rugged exterior proved true the story Lilah had summed up. He clearly wasn't the average British husband. Upon shaking his hand Lilly noticed the roughness of the skin and the forced relaxed handshake.
"It's still complicated...what isn't complicated with you Li.", she smirked as she sat back to sip her drink."So, how's life since I've seemed to fall out of it..."
It had been years since the best friends had talked. Lilly missed her dear friend but was too caught up in advancing her own career and figured Lilah was doing the same.
Oct. 31st, 2007 12:33 am (UTC)
I just smirked when she repeated herself a little. "Yes a bar; and trust me it wasn't all that romantic, As for complicated yeah I know." I sighed when she asked how things have been going since I saw her last.

"So you still knockin' em dead in the advertising world?" I'd heard that Lilly now had at least four ad agencies to her name. I knew the question about how things were at the firm, would most likely come up,and I still wasn't sure what the best way to tell her about it all was.
Feb. 26th, 2008 03:10 am (UTC)
"You know I am.", Lilly. "If it wasn't for my connections the IRS would have raided my bank account years ago."

Lilly knew Lilah was a lawyer who's dealing weren't normal.

"How is your career going?"
Feb. 26th, 2008 03:17 am (UTC)
I smirked. "Connections as in the IRS agent that you're sleeping with no doubt. Work's great, although being CEO has it's xdraw backs at times." I took a few more sips of my drink.
Feb. 26th, 2008 03:24 am (UTC)
"The best connections are the ones you can control with sex.", Lilly chuckled."I hear you on that. At times I wish I was just an employee cause then I could enjoy my money without covering my worker's asses."
Feb. 26th, 2008 03:41 am (UTC)
"Always" I smirked about her comment on connections being controlled by sex. I nodded in agreememnt about the other thing too.

"So I noticed that Wes doesn't seem to know exactly what to make of you." I laughed a little. "He had the same problem with Roger at first, but for different reasons obviously."
